. western inian by Greg Iredell First, Wrestlemania from Boston. The LOD won the tag battle royal. They go by The "LOD 2000" and have cool new costumes. SUNNY is now their manager! Sable showed great wrestling ability as she power-bombed Luna. She even used Mero's TKO to finish her off. Shamrock got The Rock to submit but would not release the anklelock. The ref then disqualified Shamrock, who went on to suplex some officials. Cactus and Chainsaw won the Dumpster match. Sheet pans, a ladder and even a forklift were used. Chainsaw lifted the Outlaws as Cactus rolled them into a parking garage dumpster. Pete Rose came out and insulted Boston area sports teams. He then got piledrived by Kane. The Undertaker—what an entrance— pinned Kane despite being manhandled the whole match. This one didn't live up to potential. The winner and new WWF Champion, STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. I called it. I didn't see Tyson doublecrossing DX. Micheals appeared to reinjure his back, but finished the match. Tyson counted 3 for the fallen referee and went on to knock out the confused and irate Micheals. Raw was just as action-packed. Vince McMahon opened the show by introducing Austin. He congratulated Steve and handed him a new WWF belt. McMahon asked Austin to consider conforming to WWF standards. Austin Stunnered McMahon for a second time. Vince then had Austin arrested. Austin used his phone call to tell Jim Ross that next Monday "Vince's ass belongs to Stone Cold." The LOD and the* lovely manager, Sunny, defeated Los Borequas in 30 seconds. They're back and better then ever. Check out the new costumes. Rocky Miavia abandoned Faarooq to lose to Steve Blackman and Shamrock. Faarooq then called out the Rock. The entire Nation then turned on Faarooq, beating him badly. The Rock announced himself as the ruler of the Nation. Then HHH came out to announce a new member of Dx. He is known as the Kid, formally Syxx of WCW. He had a lot to say including that Hall and Nash are both trying to come back but Bischoff won't let them go. Dan Severn has been introduced as Jim Cornett's enforcer and is NWA champ. Since the Outlaws were placed in the wrong dumpster, McMahon ordered a cage match for the tag belts. The Outlaws regained the belts with the help of their new friends, Dx. They are stronger than ever. Rugby Falls in Final Seconds to Wilmington by Mark Smith The Western Carolina Rugby Team completed their home matches Saturday with a 12-5 loss to UNC-Wilmington. WCU had a slender lead for most of the game following a score in the first period by William McGowern. However, it proved not to be enough in the final five minutes of the game when Wilmington scored one converted try and a penalty try to steal the victory from the Western ruggers. The game was played with a hard hitting intensity, yet good spirits, with both teams finishing the game exhausted. Wilmington, ranked fourth in the state, was impressed with WCU's effort. UNC-W's team captain commented, "We expected to come here and win comfortably and not expected to be pushed as hard as we were." Western will complete its Spring schedule with a tough road trip to play N.C. State and Cherry Point (a military team)in April 18th in Raleigh. It will be a round-robin tournament. Anyone interested in playing rugby can attend practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. behind Reid Gym. The team plays matches in the spring and fall semesters. No experience required. Student Coaches Needed Interested in coaching? Like to travel? Anybody who wants to be a coach at any level can train as a student assistant with the WCU men's basketball program. Positions are available! Computer experience required. Please contact the WCU men's basketball office at 227-7338 to set up an appointment for April 6.
