  • Western Carolinian September 9,1993 News Page 3 SGA holds senator elections next week Justin Holmes Staff Reporter The Student Government Association (SGA) will soon be holding its annual senator elections. Students who wish to run must pick up an application from the Student Government office on the second floor of the University Center. The deadline for applications is 3pm on September 13. Students will vote for senators on September 14. The voting will take place directly in front of the U. C. Students will vote as either residents or as commuters. There will be eight senators elected to represent commuters, and one senator will be elected for every two hundred residential students. Brett Fansler, vice-president of SGA, stated that running for senator is a good way to get involved with the school. SGA also took part in the MCI marketing on campus in order to help clubs to earn money for their group activities. SGA announces that all young ladies who want to run for homecoming queen can register now in the SGA office. Applications are due in the SGA office by Sep- tember21. Voting for homecoming queen will take place on September 23, and then again for the finalist on September 30. Also, if any students want to appeal a parking ticket and feel mat they were following the parking rules and regulations, then appeals may be made at the SGA office. Students are asked to be honest and, if possible, to bring witness. Bill Scott, president, and Brett Fansler, would like to welcome students and staff back for the 93-94 school year. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact them at the SGA office at 227-7299. Madison continued from front hires cable television, air conditioning, private baths and elevator access. Two units are equipped for mobility- impaired residents. In addition to guest rooms, it provides two seminar rooms, lounge and lobby areas, service facilities for catering, an exercise room, covered access for loading and unloading, and a parking space for each guest room. Fifteen rooms will be available for conference purposes during the academic year; the remaining rooms will be occupied by students. Renovations have not greatly affected Madison's exterior. A new terrace for guests has been constructed, in addition to thecovered access to provide shelter for guests whle registering and removing luggage from their vehicles. Although renovations have given Madison new life as a conference center, it is designed for individuals and groups involved in on-campus workshops and will not be available for use by the general public, conferences, training or similar activities, he said. Money for the renovaton project came from the university housing department's reserve fund; no loans or state appropriations were needed, Carter said. n^ozune & Country florist "LEADER'S IN ORIGINALITY...
