Chambers Named SACS Dean by Alex Greene STAFF WRITER During the 1988 ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Bragg, WCU ROTC Cadets performed a standard achieved only by a few schools in the United States. ROTC Cadets attended Advanced Camp between their Military Science III and Military Science IV year. This camp is held at Fort Bragg, NC and the cadets go through all kinds of training. Examples are: Navigation, Rapelling, Patrolling, and all Military Basic Skills. They are evaluated in sixteen leadership dimensions. "Our cadets are expected to have a high level of training so they can demonstrate their level of ability," said Captain Harbison, from the Military Science Department. The camp consists of all the ROTC Battalions across Region 1, that is, from Maine to South Carolina, including West Virginia and some schools in Kentucky. An overall of 3300 cadets participated in the last camp. "We sent sixteen cadets to camp, and 57% of them ROTC Cadets Named "TOP- GUN" L to R: C/Major Derek Long. "Mr. Wanless told us not to play while the ball was in play, because we cause disturbance. Poss' Pit members bring drumsticks to the games and they beat them against chairs, that causes disturbance too, but they don't tell them to stop,- what is the difference?" said a pep-band member after the game. According to the Southern Conference Bulletin, the band can't perform while the ball is in play because it distracts the players. "No musical instruments or amplification instruments will be allowed in the stadium," according to Mr. Steve White, Sports Information Director. After talking to Mr. Wanless about the Poss's Pit situation, he declared, "Poss's Pit is different because they are cheering for the team, but when you play a trumpet you cause disturbance; it's different." Mr. David Hart, Commissioner of the Southern Conference declared, "They cannot bring drum sticks to the Ram- ^ OFF-SHORE nigh* MON- SAT % We are EXPANDING' our menu! * Potato Skins with Cheese and Toppings * * Fresh Fried Veggis and Onion Rings * * Clam Chowder, Rainbow Trout, Scampi * * Stuffed Shrimp and Calabash style * * Broiled Flounder & our famous Hushpuppies * OYSTERS ON 1/2 SHELL Great Hot Lunches and Assorted Deli Sandwiches and Salads.
