The catch to seeing the comet is that it will be visible (hopefully) about 5 a.m. each morning. The tail comes up first and probably by the time the entire comet is well above the horizon, the sun will be getting ready to come up. The direction to look in is a little south of east -just about the same location where the sun will later come up. If it's too light by 5 a.m., try a little earlier. For those planning to stay in this part of North Carolina, everything about time and direction will be the same. But it will be more important to find a high location, or else the mountains will hide the real horizon. The astronomy department has tentative plans for 5 a.m. telescope viewing of the comet on Wednesday and Thursday, March 19 and 20, if weather permits. We also plan some evening opportunities in April, because the comet will shift into the evening sky by then. Halley's Comet is likely to be a disappointment for you to see by naked eye; so some of you may prefer to wait and see it in 2061 when it next returns. It is expected to be very bright then. Long Branch Rd., Cullowhee, NC (Next To Cullowhee Quik Stop). FRIENDSHIP DESIRED BY INCARCERATE It is my fondest wish that through this brief message I'll be able to establish a mutually beneficial rapport with Staff and /or students. I seek genuine friendship devoid of the nonsensical games too often allowed to hinder relationships, Any rapport built upon a solid foundation of truth and honesty will be unshakable. If you respond, I guarantee you'll never regret doing so. If not (God forbid!), at least you'll know I exist. One is truly a very lonely number! Letters would help fill the void, and champion the monotony of institution life. Any photo accompanying a letter would be considered an additional pleasure. Be gentle with yourself!
