Advisement and Placement Center at WCU, has been named to a ncvvlv created position at WCU, that ot director ot special academic programs. fhe new position will have responsibility for the WCll CAP Center ami special programs directed toward students who require unique academic preparation, including Upward Bound, Special Student Services, and WCU's pre-umversilv preparatory program. In addition, Dr. Jody will coordinate several remedial education programs provided bv ihe WCU Reading Center and the departments of English and mathematics. Dr. .lodv has been associated with the CAP Center since its inception m I97S Betore thai, she served as a lacultv member in the department of English. She also has served on various WCl) committees, and as vice chairwoman of the UNC Faculty Assembly in l9"'3-74. In January Dr. Jody was named to a steering committee ol the General Administration of the University of North Carolina lor evaluating compensatory education programs. Carter's Asheville trip postponed President Jimmy Carter has canceled his visit to Ashev ille planned for tomorrow because the talks at the Camp David Summit are still continuing between he. President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Israeli Prime Minister Menachim Begin according to Press Secretary Jody Powell. The trip was planned by Carter to help Democratic candidates Lamar Gudger. who is running for re-election in the 11th district against Republican Curtis Radcliffe and Democratic senate hopeful John Ingram who is going against incumbent Jesse Helms. President Carter was scheduled to hold a rally at the airport and then later in the evening hold a $500 dollar a plate fundraiser at the Biltmore Estate with both Gudger and Ingram. Wanna deal?
