  • Epistle: TUESDAY. MAY 3. 1977 it Student Government Assoclil ly Aiken and Sue Cond dent Government Production's record this year. It seems as though th y Center Board, under I >f SGA. Hlsworklr t: Student Governmi Lagano at large Dei [■(in, l would like to lake this opportunity to congratulate President Elect Patrick Murphy and Vice-president Elect Gary Brown on their victories and for excellent campaigns. I wish them both the best of luck and 1 am looking forward to a great year in Student Government iiext year. During the last five weeks many people put in long, hard hours of unselfish work in my campaign for the vice presidency. I would like to thank all of them and I hope they each got as much out of the election as 1 did. I would especially like to thank Robert Wood, my campaign manager, who put in as many (and probably more) hours into my campaign as I did. Without Rob 1 would have never begun to put together the campaign 1 did. Rob is and excellent Senator, hard worker, and one of the most dedicated people 1 have ever worked with. Richard Johnson, Bob Cochran, Ken Ashworth, Richard (Sulllivan) Sullins. my K.A. brothers, and the many others who worked and supported me during my campaign all deserve to be complimented and thanked for expressing their interest in the campaign and SGA 1 would also like to thank everyone who voted and expressed his or her interest at the polls. During my campaign I promised, that as a freshman. 1 would be around for 3 more years and would work for the betterment of SGA and the school. 1 intend to keep that promise as Senator-at-large and when elections roll around next year you will again see my name on the ballot for an executive office. But. for now. the students have made their choices, and they are excellent choices. With Murphy as President, Brown an veep. and Senators like Wood, Nancy Hope. Joe Planz. and myself the students can expect much from SGA next year. Al Lagano Senator-at-large Elect Formal apology Dear Editor. We, the undersigned, wish to formally apologize for using our Senatorial office to endorse a political candidate. Norman Schoer Rob Wood David K. Tedrow Remember Ohio Dear Editor. Seven years ago tomorrow, four college students, similar to you and me. were shot and killed by the United States National Guard at Kent State University in Ohio. Is seven years that long a time? It seems all to evident that with the passing of time and the shortening of hair, the consciousness and concern that once gripped us has lost its hold only to let us fall into the passive and apathetic state that we find ourselves in today. Arc we today not faced with injustices of the same magnitude as were the students of Kent State in '70? Are not thousands of unpardoned American's lives still being ruined by the very war they protested? Are not we as a nation still pursuing such imperialistic ventures as Vietnam in our ever increasing involvement in South Let us not forget the four who died in Ohio. Let it remind us that those who cannot remember the mistakes of the past are condemned to repeat them in the future. Bob Cochran Richard M.
