WCU TRUSTEES MEETING The Western Carolina I tii versity board of trustees will hold its regular winter meet- in;,' at 10:3(1 a.m., Saturday Februarj -4, in the Catamount Room of the A.K. Hinds University Center. The student affairs, business affairs, aca- demx affairs, and property and building committees, suirtingat 8:30 a.m., will meet prior to the board session, MATH LECTURE Dr. .lames II, Wahab, professor and head of the department of mathematics at the University of South Carolina, will give a lecture at WCl Thursday morning entitled "Mathematics in the Life Sciences.'' The Mathematical Association of America is sponsoring the lecture which will be given in Stillwell 309 at 11:00 am. Interested people can meet with Dr. Wahab over coffee at 111:3(1 am. The UCB is also sponsoring this week a speaking engagement by Bob Matheson, Thursday, February 22, a coffeehouse, Friday night, and a bus trip to Appalachian Suite, Saturday, Matheson, linebacker for the Miami Dolphins; is the featured speaker in a program that in eludes color films and comrn.n- tury. He will speak in the G-and- room r>£ the UC beginning at 8 p.m, The coffeehouse will be held from 8:30 p.m, to 12 a.m. in the Goldroom of the UC, There will be refreshments and all performers are welcome, A Saturday night bus trip is plained for students wishing to go to Appalachian and support the Cats in their last game of the season. Students wanting to go can sign up with the UCB secretary on the first floor of the UC. Uist day to sign up is Th irsday and there will be a Si,00 charge to help cover expenses/ Committee Set To Search For Vice Chancellor The search for a new vice chancellor for student development at Western Carolina University is being guided by a committee representing students, trustees, and faculty members, The search committee is headed by Dr, James Pelham Thomas, head of the department of mathematics. Other members are Robert L, Edwards of Mars Hill, a trustee who is superintendent of the Madison County school system; Dr. ■!. T, Hamilton, head of the department of health and physical education; Professor Patsy Scott of the School of Business; Dr.CreightonSos- soman, professor of history; Russel Stevens, assistant director of student housing; Dwight Nelson, president of the student body; Rhonda Ward, a student leader and Denis Ho-vell and Gail Sifford, both honor students at the university. The committee will make re commendations to Dr. Jack K. Carlton, chancellor, for a suc« ccssor to Dr* Herb F. Reinhard, who resigned last August to become assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of students at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
