  • Intramural basketball starts summer season Thursday, July 1, 1971 THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN 3 The summer intramural basketball season is in full swing. The summer league is made up of six teams with players from the WCU student body and residents of the area. Due to lack of enough supervisory personnel the rules of the game have been changed for the most individual parti" cipation. The games are played on a half court. There are no officials or time outs. Each basket counts one point and the teams keep their own c score whUe the game is under way. There are no foul shots. Each player calls his own fouls and his team Is rewarded the bail out of bounds. Team One: McConneU, Currln, Dalton, Crabtrle, MUler, Casey, Team Two: Huntley, Burke, Crompton, Ledbetter; Team Three: Kirk, Benson, Shannonhouse, Burkett, McCauley, Robinson; Team Four: Manls, Barkley, Taylor, Barret; Team Five: Dean, Brown, Angler, Sewell, McLonnel, Thompson, Brown; Team Six: Lucas, Root, Bouhoff, Israel, Davis, Young. The results so far: Team 6 over Team 4, 27-28; Team 6 over Team 1, 32-26; Team 5 over Team 1, 26-25; Team 3 over Team 2, 18-17; Team 3 over Team 4, 29-20; Team 2 over Team 5, 30-23, HIT IT LIKE A LADY. Padd/e fennis fournamen, b ns The WCU tennis tournament has started and as usual no one has noticed. Dr. Hamilton would be the favorite in the tournament if he could keep his hair out of his eyes. Some of the kiddies were diving off the cliffs into the water. A delightful afternoon. But if you want to see them you must go quietly and early as they drift away in the heat of the afternoon.
