  • THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN Saturday, January 11, 1958 FIA Club To Elect President The first meeting of the Fine and Industrial Arts Club for the new year will be held on January 26, 7:30 p.m., in room 115 Stillwell. All FIA majors are invited. Start the new year right by attending this meeting. All old members are urged to attend for the matter of electing two new officers to fill vacancies this quarter. A new president and a new secretary will be elected. Th program will be an interesting movie entitled "Aluminum by Revier." Refreshments will be served following the meeting. Veterans Club The dance given by the Veterans Club on Saturday, December 7, was such a success that another is being planned by the club for this month. Posters will be put up announcing the next meeting of the club. Attendance by all veterans is urged. PE Club At the last Physical Education Club meeting, representatives were chosen to attend the State Physical Education Convention held at Wake Forest College in Winston-Salem. The members to attend were Betty Jo Clary, Ray Volrath, Charles Koontz, Bill Embler, James Penly and Jo Coth- ran, accompanied by the sponsors, Miss Helen Hartshorn and Dr. Quinn Constantz. Screams and blood curdling cries from freshmen and sophomores as was Physical Fitness. Everyone enjoyed the meeting and derived a greater understanding of the problem of physical fitness for the American people. Also, at the meeting, the club decided to buy club pins. After the business, we enjoyed a film titled "They Grow So Fast." The meeting was then adjourned. FBLA All members are urged to pay their dues at once. These dues ($2.00) can be paid to Henry Teal, Eddie Goforth or Bill Cloninger. Reid spent the Christmas vacation in Florida and according to Dr. Reid, they had a most wonderful time. They traveled down the east coast to Key West and then back to Miami where they boarded a jet commercial airliner for Nassau in the Bahamas. Four days later they returned to Miami and traveled back up the west coast of Florida and on to Cullowhee. Graduate Courses Five graduate courses are being offered on the campus during winter quarter, according to Dr. W. Newton Turner, director of the graduate division. On Monday night, Dr. Paul J. Ritter will teach a course in Radio and TV Education. On Wdnesdays, Guidance in the School will be taught by Professor Taylor Hus- .kins. Foundations of Modern Education will be taught by Dr. M. B. Morrill on Friday night and Dr. C. D. Killian will teach a course in The Gifted Child at the same time. On Saturdays, Dr. R. W. Ainsley will teach a course in General Administration. Other courses are being taught in eight Western North Carolina lowns. Wood Honored Baxter Wood, vice president of ihe student body, has been elected worshipful master of East LaPorte Lodge No. 358, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. Off And On Campus station WWOO is back on the air after being closed down to make repairs, according to Bob Dyer, Radio Club president. The .station now broadcasts 17 hours a day, beginning at 7:30 a.m. A listing of daily programs for the winter quarter will soon be complied and posted, according to Keith Hundley, station manager. No Tenderfoot Ben Edwards, WCC senior, will receive a "Scouter's Award" at the Annual Appreciation Dinner of the Daniel Boone Council, Boy Scouts of America, to be held in the Battery Park Hotel in Asheville on Monday night. The award is for three years work as an adult leader, including training, performance, service and tenure. Capital Cats Mr. R. C.
