It is the irresistible impulse that spurs the thoroughbred past the leaders of the field to win by a nose, though the effort breaks his heart. Wallis Budge, of the British Museum, threatens to put an end to stories about wheat raised from grain found in ancient Egyptian tombs. In a letter to the London Times he states that he has a quantity of wheat he himself took from a tomb which had not been opened since it was first sealed thousands of years ago. Having made several futile attempts to make it grow he now offers the entire quantity to any recognied botanical authority who will make a conclusive test to determine whether or not the grain alive. Both botanists and Egyptologists have for a long time agreed that it would be impossible for such grain to sprout, but spite of this the stories keep epipping up and unscrupulous tives continue to charge tourists prices for wheat suppo; dly grown fi Following is the bracket schedule of the girls' teams: rsday Waynesville 2^00 P.
