Fain 1 am so sure the title of this dinner theater needs no explanation. It would be totally buffo to have to explain what this play concerns. What can I say? "A COUPLA WHITE CHICKS SITTING AROUND TALKING" is about (are you ready?) a coupla white chicks sitting around talking. Now aren't you so glad to know that? I'm so sure! If you think "A Coupla White Chicks" has anything to do with poultry, you are way off target. Besides, poultry is groatie. I'm so sure! If, by some oversight of mine, you remain in the dark, perhaps some (non-val) elaboration is necessary. Enter one Maude Mix. Who (or what) might a Maude Mix be? Maude Mix (brilliantly played by Kate Marshall) is a modern woman and housekeeper by trade. She is so set in her ways that she allows no one to be the least bit close to her. Maude relishes being alone, privacy is certainly her middle name. (Anyone that mows their lawn at night is definitely a bit offish in my book). Next, enter one "Hanna Mae Bendler". If for some reason, the name is not sufficient implication as to what type of character "Hanna" is, do read on! This girl is a "gen-u- wine" Texas cowpoke from way back. "Hanna Mae" (delightfully portrayed by Phoebe Hall) provides us with a look at a different kind of "hick". The girl brings new dimension to the word! This is just the beginning people. "A COUPLA WHITE CHICKS SITTING AROUND TALKING", addresses the conflicts, heartbreaks, tra gedies, and achievments of Hanna and Maude. The beauty of this production is enhanced by the bipolari/ation of these two characters. It is a delightfully humorous experience watching situations develop on the stage. I'm sure we all, at one time or another have been faced with a new neighbor or roomie. Such is the case with Maude Mix and Hanna Mae. Maude is confronted with Hanna Mae as her new nextdoor neighbor. As mentioned earlier, their personalities clash from the first time Hanna Mae sets foot in Maude's kitchen. Hanna Mae does everything in her power to "be friends" with Maude, all to little or no avail. There is perhaps two stories meshed into one In "WHITE CHICKS". First, there is the story of two opposite personalities grappling with each other. Secondly, there is the story of the reuniting ol these two women through their husbands. (Even though Maude's husband leaves her for a dumb, blonde, tomato.) All in all, the performance is destined to be truly an enjoyable experience. "A COUPLA WHITE CHICKS SITTING AROUND TALKING", I guarantee it will make you "cackle."
