For further information contact Pain lee at 7210. UC Bazaar The annual University Center Christmas Bazaar will be held this year in the Grandroom of the University on Tuesday. December 7 and Wednesday, December 8. The Bazaar will run from 10 am until 9 pm each day. This year indent related clubs and organizations will have first priority to reserve table space from now until October I. After October 1 reservations will be accepted from all on a first come first serve basis. The cost will be $5.00 per table (maximum 2) for students and $10.00 for non- students (maximum 2). Computing Machinery Ihe WCU Chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery will be meeting on Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. in room 220 of Forsyth Buiding. We are honored to have as our guest speaker Mr. Charles Williams, the Southeastern Regional Representative for AMC. Mr. Williams is one of 11 individuals selected from throughout the country to serve as an AMC Regional Representative. Mr. Williams is currently employed in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He will be sharing with us the upcoming program plans for both the regional and national ACM organizations. September 25-26: RAVEN FORK BACKPACK IN SMOKIES. This hike travels through one of the more remote areas of the Smokies with virgin timber and the Park's largest hemlocks. Rated difficult. A spectacular hike up Dark Prong in the proposed Shining Rock Wilderness Extension from the confluence with the East Fork of the Pigeon River to Ivestor Gap Road. Cameras are recommended. Phi Kappa Phi Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest national honor society The society, which recognizes superior scholarship by faculty and students from all academic disciplines, has had a local WCU chapter since 1972. The WCU Chapter will hold its I all Initiation on October 14. This year, a banquet featuring a nationally known speaker will be held in conjunction with the initiation. We urge all students, faculty, etc., who were initiated at any university to contact us, if you are not on our active membership roll. Blue Ridge Beauty The first annual Miss Blue Ridge Valley Beauty Pageant for Haywood, Macon and Jackson Counties will be held at Hoey Auditorium on the Western Carolina University Campus on Nov. 19th & 20th. This is a Miss America preliminary pageant with the winner competing in the Miss North Carolina Pageant in Raleigh. Deadline for contestant applications is September 30, 1982. LMP Raft Trip Last Minute Productions is sponsoring a Gauley River Raft trip on the Gauley River in West Virginia October 15-17. The Gauley has over 100 class II-VI rapids on a 22 mile stretch of river. The cost is $40.00 which includes transportation, fuel, all equipment and guides.
