An attorney, Mr. Jor- dan served in the North Carolina Senate in 1959, 1961, and 1963. He was a member in 1961-62 of the Governors Commission on Education Beyond the High School that helped develop a Structure for higher education in North Carolina. Mr. Jordan served on the former State Board of Higher Education, the coordinating body that was succeeded by the present Board of Gover- nors.
