  • THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 1945 THE CANTON ENTERPRISE FAUE FIVE \Xotwty Miss Brown Honored With Crystal Show,er Miss Naomi Brown, bride-elect of Edgar Pressley, was honored with a crystal shower at her home Monday evening, when Miss Mozella Pressley and Miss Margie Brown were hostesses. The house was decorated with mixed garden flowers. Games were enjoyed during the evening and tempting refreshments were served by the hostesses. The guests were: Mrs. Nell Vance, Mrs. Bobbie Rhea, Mrs. Edith Shepard, Mrs. Helen Camak, Misses Katherine Hipps, Mable Stuart, Alberta Medford, Constance Hawkins and Lois Hardin. Mrs. Pless Will Be Honored Here Mrs. Carlton Pless of Mooseheart, Ind., who is visiting relatives and friends here, will be honored at an open meeting of the Women of Moose at the Moose hall Tuesday evening. The monthly door prize wil] also be given away at that time. The regular meeting of the chapter was held Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson Entertain at Supper Mr. and Mrs. Robert Atkinson entertained a'number of friends at an outdoor supper Saturday evening. The guests included, Mrs. Joe Thompson, a sister-in- law, and her baby daughter, Linda of Leesville, S. C, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Leihus of Waynesville, Dr. and Mrs. E. P. Billups and son, Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Clontz and son, Dick, Mrs. Mildred Hudson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Cathey, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Wells, Mrs. J. S. Miss Rickards Is Wedded To Sergeant Kneale. The marriage of Miss Marian Elizabeth. Rickards to Sergeant Samuel George Kneale was solemnized Thursday afternoon, at Central Methodist church, Canton. The pastor, Dr. Edgar Parke Billups officiated using the double lin^ ceremony. The altar was decorated with urns of white gladioli and branched candlabra each bearing seven lighted candles. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Roy Pless, organist, and Miss Joan Witt, soprano soloist. Mrs. Pless played "Bridal Song" Jenson, "Kammenoi Ostrow" Rub- enstein, and "I Love Thee", Greig. Miss Witt sang "The Sweetest Story Ever Told," and "Because". Debussy's "Clare de Lune" was played softly while the vows were being spoken, and at the close of the ceremony Miss Witt sang "The Lords Prayer". The traditional wedding marches Class Will Meet With Mrs. Rogers The T. E. L. class of the First Baptist church will meet at the home of Mrs. H. G. Rogers 91 Newfound street, Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Mrs. B. A. Horton and Mrs. H. B. Harrison will be associate hostesses. All members are urged to be present. Women's Society Will Meet Aug. 15 The Woman's Society of Christian service of the Harmony Plains church will meet at the home of Mrs Ernest Branson Wednesday evening, August 15, at 8 o'clock. All members are urged to be present. WED IN HOME CEREMONY Church Ladies Will Have Picnic Next Thursday The Woman's Missionary society of the First Baptist church will meet at the church Thursday afternoon at 5:30 for their annual picnic. All members, and their husbands are urged to be present. Class Plans Picnic Supper The monthly meeting of the Phebean class of the First Baptist church to be held Tuesday evening will feature a picnic supper as a result of a recent contest. The losing side will be hostesses. The time of the meeting and further plans will be announced Sunday. were played. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother Pfc. James C. Rickards, wore a street- length dress of white lace, made with fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline, and three-auarter length sleeves. Her halo hat of white lace straw had a shoulder-length veil, and her shoes and gloves were white. She wore a shoulder corsage of white orchids. Her only ornament was a cameo lava- liere, a gift presented to her mother by her father on their wedding day. Mrs. Rickards, mother of the bride, wore a dress of navy blue print, with navy and white accessories and a corsage of white roses. Following the ceremony, an informal reception was held at the home of Miss Kate Rickards, aunt of the bride. The house was beautifully decorated throughout with mid-summer flowers and lighted candles. The table was covered with a white linen cloth, centered with a large bowl of white roses, and four white tapers in crystal holders. The marriage was solemnized in a quiet ceremony at the bride's home on the evening of July 9th. Rickards and the late Mr. Rickards of Canton. She graduated from Canton high school and completed the commercial course at the 'Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. For several years she has been secretary to S. M. Robinson, attorney and mayor of Canton. Sgt. Kneale is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Kneale of Tulsa, Okla. He graduated from Tulsa Central high school and had completed over three years at the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Since entering the service in 1943 he has been stationed in the Yukon, Ashevilld and Goldsboro, N. C, with the weather and communications detachment.
