My Dear Sir,— I have your letter and also the copy cf the report of the Department cf Agriculture to the President reecmmending the Appalachian National Park etc: all cf which is certainly gratifying to all the friends of the scheme and I trust that it will materilize. Now as to* raising funds here, I am sorry to say that I have approached seme of cur people and can get no enthusiasm of'the cause as nearly all cf these who have an interest in the matter have been appealed tc before and have contributed. If you will allow me tc make a suggestion I would advise that you request Mr. Caldwell cf the Observer who is a friend of the senerneand an officer cf the Association tc start the matter through the papers and / intimate tc the readers that the contributions may be asked for and he Mr. Caldwell reccmend. that cur people dc ell they can for it. After such an item or two some funds ftay be connected. I wculd rise suggest that Mr. Rccles be asked to interest himself as he has a better Chance than an,' one else tc get contributions from people who drop into the Hotel.
