Item’s are ‘child’ level descriptions to ‘parent’ objects, (e.g. one page of a whole book).

  • This four-page brochure was created by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board, a division of the U.S. Department of Interior, to accompany a 1974 exhibition of "Rivercane Basketry by Rowena Bradley." The exhibitions were held at Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, an artisan cooperative in Cherokee, North Carolina. Rowena Bradley (1922-2003) was an accomplished basket weaver who specialized in rivercane baskets. The exhibition featured 15 baskets, all of them rivercane. By this time rivercane baskets were in demand; the baskets in the exhibit were from the permanent collections and were not for sale. A photograph of Bradley was included in the brochure. From 1969 through 1985, the Indian Arts and Crafts Board and Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, Inc. sponsored a series of exhibitions to promote Cherokee crafts. The brochures for these exhibits were reformatted and republished as "Contemporary Artists and Craftsmen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians" in 1987.
