  • history of Switzerland, Spain and Italy demonstrate that it is more economical to preserve forests than to replant them. JUL Therefore, be it Resolved : That the Senators and Representatives in Congress be respectfully requested to investigate this movement, become conversant with the necessity of establishing such a Park, and to use their utmost endeavor to enact such legislation as will secure the establishment of a Park in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Jul And be it further, Resolved : That the citizens of the Southeastern states particularly be requested, when called on by local organizers, to assemble together and lend their assistance both by their presence and contributions, as well as by articles for the press, to further this end. JUL And be it further, Resolved : To ask the press of the country to assist in placing this matter properly before the people and to keep awake such interest as has already been developed, and further, when the matter shall be brought before Congress, to urge that body to enact such legislation as shall be necessary to secure the establishment of a National Park in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
