The top picture shows "thickening machines" which remove water, leaving a fibre mass of uniform consistency so the action of the bleach is accurately controlled. Lower right picture shows operator testing sample from one of the large bleach tanks where fibres are whitened by means of chlorine solution. When bleaching is done the fibres are sent over washers, as shown in left lower picture. This removes all traces of bleach solution.
