  • Fairfield Forest Products Company, a subsidiary of the Canton division, holds an annual family gathering each September at the Champion clubhouse. The clubhouse, a mansion built in 1785, is located on the estate known as Simpson’s Belfast in Newberry, South Carolina. Canton Champions attend as special guests. This 1950 photograph shows Bill Walker (left) and “Barbecuer” Coon (right), talk things over while chicken is sizzling over pit. Walker was “Johnny on the spot” in assisting Coon with preparation of the meal. More information about this photograph can be found in Champion publication The Log.
