You know life gets kind of rought sometimes but it's good for our souls, Because it takes hardships to make us work harder for our goals. Sure the sun may not be shining everyday, But in due time, dark clouds will roll away. Then too, if we had all we needed we'd forget about the Lord, And doing this is risky, it's something we cannot afford. You see, he can do without us — but without Him, there is nothing we can do, So it is best that we trust, depend and lean on Him, then He will see us through. Colored Folks Heaven To enter the gate Of pearly white Where birds sing All day because There is no night To reach the land Of milk and honey Where everyday is Clear and bright To walk the land Where every heart Is pure because Nothing evil can Enter through To see the Savior Everyday And mingle with Spirits whose hearts Are always gay Colored folks heaven Is up above the clouds Where man cannot Overthrow The beautiful city of God. This 1978, 36-page book of poems titled Neo-Blackness was published by the Organization of Ebony Students. Named in 1973, the Organization of Ebony Students was originally the Black Students United for Liberation which was founded in 1968 to promote unity among African American students. The organization is now called the Black Student Union and continues to promote the interests of WCU’s African American student body through cultural and educational activities and is open to all cultures.
