Murphy High school woodland classroom
-
Murphy High School established a 197-acre school forest with the help of Champion foresters. The woodland classroom is a demonstration forest used for teaching, testing, and showing of the most advanced techniques of forest management. This 1959 photograph shows two-man crews, members of the Murphy Future Farmers of America, planting hillside. Each year after liberation cutting to remove heavy brush cover and cull hardwoods is completed, 15,000-25,000 seedlings are planted. More information about this photograph can be found in Champion publication The Log. Click the link in the “Related Materials” field to view the article on pages 12 - 14.
