  • 11 The ChairmanJ- Gentlemen, I have here a telegram from Senator Pritchard.which I will read. "Marshall, N. C. ii/»*nd P«. Dr. C. P. Ambler, Secty Park and Forestry Com., Asheville, N.C. I am engaged in the trial of an important case in Criminal Court which renders it impossible for me to attend the convention to-day. Please extedd to the delegates my best wishes and say to them that I will do ail in ray power to secure an appropriation for the establishment of the proposed park. The Secretary of Agriculture says ♦ he regret 3 exceedingly that he cannot aoanawx be present. J. C. Pritchard.* Col. A. M, Waddeil, of Wilmington, North Carolina, was next invited to address the convention, and spoke as follows: Col. Waddeil's Address. Mr Chairman and Gentlemen, It is unnecessary for me to say anything, since I am only a private citizen, out I must say that as such you can depend on me to do everything that I can for the cause, and I shall exert myself in the direction of obtaining this park, which i3 so necessary to our people. My affection for ray home state, my native state, makes me say that I love her with all my heart; I love every inch of my good old native state, but this I can say further, that I believe this wjjxvkw western region to be the mo 31 beautiful spot on the face of this
