I thank you for copies of the "story". Within the next two or three weeks,it ought to appear in a great many papers. In a letter dated yesterday, I wrote you that it seems unwise to publish the Memorial & Petition until the Bills are presented. In regard to transportation: This is a matter I will have to confer with our people about and write you again. This 22-page series of letters discusses a planned visit with Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson. In January 1901, the Appalachian National Park Association presented a memorial to Congress. This proposal was referred to the Committee on Agriculture. On April 17, 1900, the officers of the Park Association appeared before the Agriculture Committee to present their case. The association had subsequent dealings with the Secretary of Agriculture from then until they disbanded in 1905.
