  • Horace and Roy seem to be getting along fine in school through Horace is under pretty severe pressure as he has to get high marks in order to justify his shholarship [sic] - or at least he thinks he does. Anyway he is working too hard I’m afraid. Then too, I think Pauline is a pretty severe taskmaster and keeps after the boys a little more than she should. She cant seem to realize that both of them are now grown men. Its a mighty good recommendation of both the boys that they have turned out to be pretty self-reliant in spite of that handicap. I’m bound to say in favor of the enhart [?] clan that they have had five sets of pretty high-grade offspring - or six (says I blushingly) if you include ourselves. Of your 19 children and grandchildren all have managed to stay out of jail and the poorhouse (though the last may have been around the corner most of the time it seemed Well, compared to most families we have been pretty lucky at that. Virginia was here in Washington at Christmas time
