Named for H.T. Hunter, the Hunter Library was constructed in 1953. Hiram Tyram Hunter (1883-1947) served as president from 1923 to 1947. With a growing student body, Hunter Library was added onto twice, first in 1967 and then again in 1982. The copy on the back of the postcard reads, "Hiram T. Hunter Library, Western Carolina College, Cullowhee, N.C. This institution is a four-year state college, co-educational, supported by the State of North Carolina; liberal arts, teacher education, master of arts degrees. Bill Kobert"
