  • Our own beautiful "Hazel Creek." 'Tis to such spots as this that our minds are ever turning. We might catch a trout and we'd have the fun of learning HAZEL CREEK (Concluded) is visiting her family in Proctor for several days. Mr. John Marshall, one of our former employees who is now employed in Chicago, arrived at Proctor to spend a couple of days with home folks. We understand that Mrs. E. B. McCollum of Franklin, who arrived at Proctor June 10th has taken charge of the Club House. Mr. Joe Swan, Assistant Parquet Machinist, returned May 31st from a business trip to Bryson City, Andrews and other points. Messrs. Ed. Craddock, Charley Wilson, 'John Hicks, Dinty Moore and Chas. Neal motored to Ritter on a fishing trip June 1st, and although the day was rainy, reported a good time, having caught several nice trout. Jack Bradshaw, flooring tier in the planing mill, has returned from an extended fishing trip. On the night of May 27th Verne Bateman, accompanied by the store clerks from this place went on a fishing trip and caught some nice catfish. Mr. Robert Hill of Asheville, one of our former employees in the flooring department, has been visiting his family for several days. The father and brother of Mr. F. Bennett were recent visitors here. Mr. Chas. Lail, Manager of the Hazel Creek Hotel, was called to Almond by the illness of his mother. Mr. Tom McCollum, son of our Superintendent from Franklin, has accepted a position in the planing mill. Mr. B. Price of McClure, formerly of Hazel Creek, paid us a few days' visit recently. The Proctor theater is showing some of the best pictures that we have had the privilege of seeing for a long time. A litter of fourteen throughbred puppies owned by Mr. J. C. Godwin COLLETON Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Wynne and E. H. Troutman made a trip to Walterboro recently. Mr. E. J. Hall of Onedia New York, has accepted a position as machine setter in our planing mill. Mr. R. J. Brabham was called to his home at Williams, South Carolina, on account of the death of his uncle, Mr. William Brabham. We extend our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Godwin over the death of their little daughter, Inez, age seven months. Miss Jessie Blocker of Walterboro is visiting her aunt, Mrs. H. R. Satterwhite. Miss Irene Godwin was called home on account of the death of her niece, little Inez Godwin. Miss Katherine Williams is nursing a very sore hand on account of a bad burn. Little Miss Lucile Adams spent the week-end with Mrs. W. V. Carlton at Williams. Mr. E. E. Ritter recently spent a few days with us. Dr. H. M. Carter spent a few days in Columbia last week. We are pleased to announce that Miss Harriet Scott and Ruth Weeks, who recently underwent operations, are able to be out again. Mrs. Sineath and little daughter of Varnville are visiting Mrs. H. 0.
