Box 384 Hsbeville, Since the organisation of the Appalachian National Park .Association tin total monies collected have amounted to $2638.45. This has practically all been spent in printing literature, mailing MM and paying for clerical wo^k. Not one of the officials of the Association receive any salary whatever1. It is now estimated by the directors that $500. or $600. Will be necessary for carrying on the work in the energetic manner it should be from now until the matter comes up in the House in December. Membership in the Association is $2.00 with no annual dues. Additional subscriptions are solicited. The report from the Ways and Means Committee Chair J. A. Nichols is a financial statement for the Appalachian National Park Association. The asssociation was formed in 1899 for the purpose of promoting the idea of a national park in the eastern U.S. Although housed in Asheville, North Carolina, the organization was a multi-state effort, attracting representatives from six southern states. The association disbanded in 1905.
