From the desk of CLARYSE Do MYERS Librarian GSMNP Comments on Kephart-Collection, once here in the library, all stamped as PERSONAL PROPERTY HORACE KEPHART. Evidently the collection was housed here until 1973, when Paul McCrary, then in charge of Interpretive Division, with supervision of the library, returned the materials, especially books, to the Western Carolina University Special Collections, under care of Dr. Richard W.Iobst University Archivist and Coordinator of Special Collections Western Carolina University Cullowhee, N.C. 28723 I f\MSV* 1

This 1979 correspondence discusses the transfer of Horace Kephart collection from the library of Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Western Carolina University. The letter was written by librarian Claryse Myers. Horace Kephart (1862-1931) was a noted naturalist, woodsman, journalist, and author and promoter of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
