Classroom in Joyner Building
-
This photograph was taken by Herbert W. Pelton (1879-1961) who was a photographer active in Asheville, North Carolina, in the 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s. Joyner Building served as a combination classroom and administration facility. Constructed in 1913, it was the focus of the Cullowhee Normal and Industrial School campus for decades. Until 1952, it housed the school’s library. The building was destroyed by fire in 1981.
