  • In a letter to I. K. Stearns on January 17, 1925, Charles Edward Waddell (1877-1945) explains Mr. Garrett will possibly arrive with the poles on Monday. He confirms P. M. Burdette’s acceptance of his request for Horace Kephart’s reservation for the Florida trip. He asks Stearns to send a $25 check to Mr. Burdette.

My dear Mr. Stearns: Following our telephone conversation we advised Mr. Garrett of the arrival of the poles and he wishes to state that he will try to be with you Monday. We phoned Mr. P. M. Burdette who is handling the Florida trip and asked him to reserve a place for Mr. Horace Kephart. Mr. Burdette expressed great pleasure that Bryson City is to he represented and has added Mr. Kephart's name to the list. You will please send Mr. Burdette a check for $25.00. We told Mr. Burdette that in the meantime we would he responsible for the reservation and the deposit, until you could be advised. Yours very truly, CBW:M
