RHCC (Resident Hall Coordinating Council) is offering the sen ice of handling cafeteria comments and complaints. The purpose is to provide an oullcl lor these complaints and to see them through the comet channels. Our goal is to improve the eating environ ment here on campus and resolve unsatisfactory conditions. RHCC has accomplished through these channels many results such as the salad line open al dinni I in Dodson and lor lunch m Brown. With youi help RHC< can see vour comments and complaints through the correct channels and decrease the amount of gripes you are having. School meals Mrs. Sara Sloan, director of the school food and nutrition program in Atlanta's Fulton County School System, will present a series of lour lectures at WCU April 15-16. A well-known health nutritionist. Mrs. Sloan pioneered Fulton County's program which eliminated refined sugar in school meals for children and became the first such school system in the nation to do so. The NUTRA Breakfast and Lunch Program features natural whole foods that arc low in fat and salt and contain no artificial coloring, additives, preservatives or refined carbohydrates. It has received wide acclaim. All of Mrs. Sloan's presentations will be open to the public free of charge and they all will be held in Room 104 of WCU's Killian Building. Her visit is sponsored by WCU's Visiting Scholars Program. Her lectures on April 15 will be on "Better Food for Better Learning" from 3:30 until 5 p.m.. and "Nutritioning For Health" from 7:30 until 9 p.m. On Wednesday. April 16. there will be an informal reception from i0 until 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Sloan will discuss "From Classroom to Cafeteria—Practice What You Preach" from 10:30 a.m. until noon, and from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Under Mrs. Sloan's leadership, student lunch participation in the Fulton County program has increased from 61 percent when she arrived in 1964 to 87 percent currently. As director of the Atlanta system. Mrs. Sloan is responsible for an annual food service budget of more than $5.3 million. Women leaders A Governor's Conference on Leadership Development for Women will be held Wednesday, April 30, at the Civic Center in Asheville. Sponsored by the North Carolina Council on the Status of Women and the Commission on the Status of Women of the Asheville'Buncombe Community Relations Council, the day-long conference will feature pertinent workshops for leadership development. The area conference is a follow-up to the successful statewide conference convened by Governor Hunt in Raleigh in 1978 and the nine regional conferences held across the state last year.
