PAGE 8 THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN Carolinian News Briefs THURSDAY MAY 1, 1975 Colloquium WCU's mathematics department will conduct a colloquium featuring Dr. Trevor Evans, math professor at Emory University. He will speak on Latin squares, cubes and other designs on May 8 at 4 p.m. in Stillwell 309. Raft race Lambda Chi Alpha is having its Fifth Annual Raft Race this coming May 3. The race will begin at 1 p.m. at the steel bridge above Pi Kap Village and finish behind the old Lambda Chi House beside the Smile Station on 107. First and second place trophies will be awarded in men's, women's, and coed divisions. There will be a special trophy for best designed raft. Auditions The speech and theater arts department will conduct auditions for the non-proscenium one-acts in the round, May 5, at 4 p.m. in the Little Theater. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
