Spring Quarter Drills Begin By DAVID RAYBURN CULLOWHEE - More than 40 eager young men reported to coach Dan Robinson Tuesday afternoon as Western Carolina College began its spring football workouts. The session will last 20 days. Unexpected personnel losses marred the opening session. The losses were due to academic reasons and three or four dropouts. Student teaching has also cut into the veteran personnel expected back to the squad in the fall. Back are wingback Chuck Scott, defensive end Don Powers, defensive back David Tur- nipseed and guard John Barker. Jim Taylor, a center, will be sidelined for the spring due to a knee injury suffered this past fall in the fame against Lenoir Rhyne. The main job for coach Robinson and his staff this spring will be one of replacement of graduating and nonreturning players - plus finding a new quarterback. Lost through graduation was Jimmy Williams, who set several passing records during the 1966 season. Thus far sophomore Don Dai- ton of Hendersonville is the leading candidate for signal calling duties. Also among the top returnees are tackle Ken Lewis, guard Keith Elliott and running backs Larry Whitesides and David Lomax. The longest rail tunnel in the world is Simplon; it is 12.3 miles long and connects Switzerland and Italy. 1967 Reader's Digest Almanac REGISTERED DIAMOND RINGS MARTINIQUE $40o TO 2IOO WEDDING RING 125.OO FUTURA $150 TO 1975 Compare the quality of a Keepsake Engagement diamond with any other.
