ROBINSON became Chancellor of Western Carolina University on June 1, 1974. Formerly, he was Provost of Purdue University (1971-74) and Vice-Chancellor of the University System of Georgia (1968- 71). From 1945 until 1968, he held numerous professorial and administrative appointments at North Carolina State University. A distinguished scientist and plant geneticist, Dr. Robinson is a member of the Planning Committee on World Food, Health, and Population of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Foundation. Heisa Reseurees-Poere: Dr. Robinson was Executive Director for President Lyndon B. Johnson of the Presidents Science Advisory Committee Panel on World Food Supply, the nations landmark study of world food and population problems. Dr. Robinson is a member of the Committee on Agricultural Development of the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development, and serves as Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture of the American Association of | State Colleges and Universities. He is Chairman of the Joint Advisory Committee between the University of North Carolina, the Community College System, and Private Colleges; member of the Board of Directors of the Mountain Area Health Education 2 Foundation, Inc., member of the boards of C. J. Harris Hospital in Sylva and St. Josephs Hospital in Asheville; and is a member and director of many other state and national professional associations and committees. A native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, Dr. Robinson is a graduate of Mars Hill College and holds the bachelors and masters degrees from North Carolina State University. He holds the Ph.D. degree in genetics and plant breeding from the University of Nebraska and was awarded the honorary Doctor of Science degree from that institution in 1966. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Society of Agronomy.
