Site of Strawberry Hill, former Houghteling residence
-
The site of Strawberry Hill, former Asheville residence of the Houghteling family. Gifford Pinchot had a relationship with Laura Houghteling while working as the forester for the Biltmore Estate, which lasted until Laura's death from tuberculosis. This image is taken from the entrance of the former Rhododendron Park. The house was on the ridge in the center background, behind a large tree.
