Your Committee would further suggest that the Exe- ctitive Committee should endeavor to have the Associated Press handle at least 200 words of Park matter following this meeting, even if the same has to be paid for. And Finally: In the three reports that your Committee have presented we have about exhausted our plans as laid for the pro motion and Publicity of the Association, Therefore if the Executive Committee have anything to suggest which will be of assistance to the Association, or anything which they would like this Committee to see carried out, if the Executive Committee will kindly indicate the same it shall be for our best endeavor to see that the directions I * e si~ e c t i v e ly sub m i 11 i v e , (t^K^w-'i /*t^

In this “Third Report of the Committee on Publicity and Promotion,” dated December 1899, the Appalachian National Park Association adopted the magazine “Southern Pictures and Pencillings” as the official organ of the association. The committee planned to distribute 2000 copies of the first issue, with 1000 copies of subsequent publications. The committee had already printed 5000 copies of a small booklet entitled, “A Few Reasons in Favor of the Establishment of a National Park in the Mountains of Western North Carolina.” Originally, the group favored western North Carolina as the sole site for a proposed national park.
