The travel brochure entitled 'The National Forests of the Southern Appalachians'� (Washington, D.C.: United States Department of Agriculture, August 1923) featured three pictures on page 17 with the captions 'East Entrance, Pisgah National Forest and Game Preserve,'� 'In the Mills River Section'� and 'Boys' Camp and Lake on Bent Creek, Under Y.M.C.A. auspices, Pisgah National Forest.'� Mills River is located in northwestern Henderson County, N.C. Pisgah National Forest, established in 1916, encompasses lands in twelve western North Carolina counties. Mt. Pisgah, for which the forest earns its name, is located on the Haywood County, N.C., and Buncombe County, N.C., line and has been a prominent and noted scenic destination in western North Carolina for decades.
