Logging on Qualla Boundary
-
This series of photographs documents logging on the Qualla Boundary, land owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Throughout the Smokies, there were many individual loggers and five major companies, including Champion Fibre, Suncrest Lumber, Ravensford Lumber, Morton Butler Lumber, and the Little River Lumber Company. Ravensford Lumber Company operated on Raven Fork, a tributary of the Oconaluftee River that runs through the Qualla Boundary, often called the Cherokee Indian Reservation.
