not there in Minn., it seems best to me that you do not mention the matter to Pauline. My opinion is the same as yours in that case. I have just written to Mr. Atkinson asking him to send the mss here. He has been keeping it in his safe. It is not really mss. It is a photo copy I.K. had made from the magazines in the Congressional Library. We found another set (three magazines) among the papers in Bryson. I.K. hunted high & low for copies of the magazine before he had the photo made & could not find any. At the very first thought of making enough changes to kill the copyright but was sentimental enough to want it printed as your father wrote it. So made all this trouble. One thing suggested to I.K. & will try to get done, is to have a Cherokee write a short approval in the

In this letter of February 26, 1936, Laura Kephart writes her son, Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) from Masonville, New York to discuss publishing Horace Kephart’s article about Cherokee life. Laura is working with Mr. Atkinson and I. K. Stearns to get the article reprinted. She also discusses having her son George sign a will that she will probate if he does not. She says Leonard can come to visit her and Barbara, but it won’t be the “peace and quiet” he is looking for. She stresses how difficult her trip to Bryson City was, saying it took “every bit of nerve I had.”
