  • THE WEBSTER SCHOOL THE WEBSTER SCHOOL This is an excellent building but not nearly adequate. Approximately three years after construction the auditorium was partitioned for cafeteria and classrooms. The cafeteria is completely inadequate, and there is no gymnasium. In fact, there is no place at all for general assembly for the whole student body. It is planned to consolidate the Webster High School with the Sylva High School when funds are available for a new plant. THE WHITE ROCK SCHOOL This building was typical of the one-room schools of 100 years ago. It was located within approximately seven miles of Western Carolina College. This school was abandoned in the spring of 1948 and consolidated with the Cullowhee Training School. THE CULLOWHEE TRAINING SCHOOL This building was constructed in 1939. It was the best building in the county prior to the present Building Program. It has modern facilities and equipment. The two story portion shown in this picture was built in 1953. It was financed jointly by the State Budget Bureau and the State Building Program at an approximate cost of $84,000. THE WHITE ROCK SCHOOL THE CULLOWHEE TRAINING SCHOOL
