  • WM. A. G. STEINWEG Mr. William A. G. Steinweg, who is connected with a large manufacturing Company in Germany, is spending a few months in this country studying manufacturing methods. Mr. Steinweg made a trip to three of our mills, accompanied by Mr. Mayhew, and was very much interested in our ways of manufacturing lumber. He stated that he had not visited any other operations. in this country where lumber was so well cared for throughout all the processes of manufacture as at the mills of the W. M. Oscar Crisp, of Graham County, has been conducting a series of revival meetings here for the past two weeks, with much success. Messrs. A. L. Wilson and N. D. Moore are now running a market at Martin Hyde's restaurant. Mrs. W. C. McGuire was called home September 23rd, on account of the death of her brother, who was injured in a railway accident at Sunburst, North Carolina. The Baraca Sunday School Class is certainly growing, the average attendance being about twenty-five and everyone enjoys the lectures Rev. Elliott gives on the lessons. Mr. A. W. Agee was a business visitor in Proctor recently. lLLL-^ Joy and Gwendolyn, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Franklin. Mr. Joe Cunningham was transferred from Hazel Creek to McClure, Va., September 22nd. Mr. J. E. Danielson purchased a new 1926 Model Chevrolet car recently. Mr. Henry Franklin and family have returned to Hazel Creek after visiting in the eastern part of this state. The many friends of Mr. Oliver Guffy, planing mill machinist, who has been seriously ill, will be glad to learn that he is improving. Mr. Pat Cable, who has been connected with The W. M. Ritter Lumber Company of Hazel Creek for several years, resigned to go to Canton, N. C, where he has a position with Champion Fibre Co. The champion hunter of Hazel Creek— Mr. H. D. Franklin—with a trophy of one of his hunts, a large owl, which measured five feet from tip to tip. Work on the new highway between the Tennessee line and the present highway over Hazel Creek is about to start, and will be completed in about one year. When the road is finished, tourists can travel through to Knoxville and other points in Tennessee, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia and other states.
