Fourteen HAZEL CREEK On Hallowe'en the Proctor School gave a play and box supper for the benefit of the School Library. A very interesting program was presented and the sum of one hundred and one dollars was raised. Miss Amy Moore's box sold for the highest price, while Miss Mae Williams was voted the prettiest girl and Ed. Matthews the ugliest man. Most any of us would be glad to receive the beautiful cake he won for his prize. On November 27th the Young Men of the Baraca Sunday School Class gave a most interesting program for Thanksgiving, as follows: 1. Song—"Battle Hymn of the Republic" Class 2. Recitation — "Thanksgiving" Faye Guge 10. Talk—"Some Things We For get to Be Thankful For" - J03 Rickman 11. Quartet—"She Sleeps 'Neath the Snow" Faye Guge, W. P. Closing Prayer John Burger The family of Superintendent E. B. McCollum spent the Thanksgiving holidays with him at Proctor. Mr. John Hicks, our barber, caught four large coons while on a hunting trip in Vone Valley, North Carolina, November 4th. Mr. Vernon Crisp, who has been in the Ritter service at Hazel Creek planing mill as head end- matcher, resigned his position and left Proctor November 22nd for Graham County. Mr. Walter Wiggins, who has been end-matcher for some time, was appointed to the position as head end-matcher, succeeding Mr. Crisp. On account of the parquetry sur- facer being repaired, several of the men of the Parquetry Department have been availing themselves of the opportunity for bear, coon, opossum and squirrel hunting for the past few days. J. ,E. Danelson, Lumber Grader, now at Mabin, and Joe Cunningham, Lumber Inspector of Hazel Creek Safety does not mean "Let George do it." It means to "Do it yourself."—National Safety Council. "Good Morning Judge," is the American idea of being presented at court.—Keene Thrusts. £ Extremes: but what difference does it make? The prettiest girl and the supposedly homliest man in Proctor, who each won a cake as a prize at the Hallow-E'en Party. We'll bet that man enjoyed the cake more than the pretty girl.
