Hand Wrought Sterling, Stuart Nye
Item
Item’s are ‘child’ level descriptions to ‘parent’ objects, (e.g. one page of a whole book).
-
This early brochure was published by the Stuart Nye silver shop to illustrate the designs being offered. It also tells "The Legend of the Dogwood Tree." The dogwood flower has always been a popular Stuart Nye pattern. Stuart Nye first visited the Asheville area as a patient at the Oteen Veterans Hospital in 1923. He moved to Asheville permanently in 1928 and began making hand wrought silver jewelry in 1933. Nye's first design was the dogwood flower which has become the shop's signature. By 1948 he had established a production center with trained craft workers and a retail shop. The business still operates today in the same location producing hand made jewelry.
