This 1942 group photograph taken by W. Newton Turner (1910-1995) taken in front of Hoey (now University) Auditorium, shows Lab School students with Helen Bird noted in pen. Turner began teaching as an assistant professor of geology and geography in 1937 and filled a variety of roles before retiring on December 29, 1971 as Vice President of Western Carolina University.
