Largest finishing room for uncoated papers^1!1 this mock:rn> 1 x airy, and scien tifically lighted room, 233 workers cut the uncoated paper into sheets, sort (on order) count, trim (on order) and pack for shipment. Not only is this the largest room of its kind in the industry, but it is the most advantageously organized and equipped. Hydraulic tables eliminate tedious adjusting. Automatic counters save hours. Nowhere is more apparent the effort put forth by Champion to do its work well, to merit the wholehearted approval of the printing industry, than in this modern finishing room. ■^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^s ^5^ ^\\\s\sm\mm\m^

This 32-page booklet, produced by the Champion Coated Paper Company, details its papermaking operation in detail, including information on its North Carolina plant in Canton. In the early part of the 20th century, Champion Mills was among the largest in the industry with 58 acres of floor space at their home plant in Hamilton, Ohio. Producing 130,000 tons of paper each year, Champion was a full-service factory, producing spruce and other lumber, trimmings for pulp, and bark for tanneries. The company operated the largest tannin extract plant in the world, much of it used for export. Champion had its own lime kiln and coal mine in nearby Tennessee. The brochure is illustrated throughout with detailed, black and white engravings by artist and illustrator, Glen Tracy (1883-1956).
