Craftsman's Fair, 1953: Goingback Chiltoskey, Mrs. T.G. Phelps, and Walter B. Stephen
-
The Craftsman's Fairs of the Southern Highlands presented an opportunity for the region's craftsmen to visit with each other. In this photograph Goingback Chiltoskey talks with Walter B. Stephen, owner of Pisgah Forest Pottery, while Mrs. T.G. Phelps proceeds with her demonstration of vegetable dyeing. Phelps is dyeing the strips of fabric used in making rugs. This photograph was taken by Edward L. DuPuy at the 1953 Craftsman's Fair of the Southern Highlands in Asheville, North Carolina.
