  • Upper Left: 1. The earliest type of cabin. It has no windows as the first settlers came from the north and for 100 years were isolated from stores where goods could be bought. It has two small doors for ventilation. A man wife and five children once lived in this one room cabin with a loft reached by a ladder against the wall. May 1959. Upper middle: 2. Another view of cabin #1. June 1958. Upper right: 3. Another view of cabin #1. December 1958. Lower left: 5. The earliest type of cabin. It has no windows as they could get no glass. It is 100 years old but vacant now. It is on the farm near the end of a road. I have only found two cabins like them. November 1958. Lower middle: 6. Another view of cabin #5 This man and wife cannot read or write. December 1958. Lower right: September 1960.
