Camp Hope hiking

  • wcu_canton-2956.jpg
  • Camp Hope was first established in 1925 and was dedicated to Hope Thomson Robertson, wife of Reuben B. Robertson, as a show of appreciation for her generous work with the youth of Western North Carolina. The summer of 1956 Camp Hope was at full capacity for both three-week sessions of girls and then boys camps. Campers can choose among a variety of activities. This photograph shows a group of girls as they hike through Wagon Road Gap in the direction of Beech Gap, 11 miles away. In the left background is shown a portion of the new Blue Ridge scenic parkway. More information about this photograph can be found in the Champion publication The Log.
