  • Baltimore, Md., Herald: The efforts of the Appalachian National Park Association are to be commended. Should this movement finally succeed, the thanks of the entire country will be due its promoters for their earnest efforts. The Tradesmen, Chattanooga, Tenn.: The movement to establish a National park in the Southern Appalachian mountains deserves a general and hearty support. American Israelite, Cincinnati, O.: Congress will be acting in the interests of generations yet unborn if it grants the prayer of the petitioners for the Appalachian National Park. Spirit of the Valley, Harrisonburg, Va.: The general Government ought to step in before it is too late and take possession of the whole region We hope our Congressmen will attend to this matter before it is too late. Let them do it at this session. Now is the accepted time. Indianapolis, Ind., Sentinel: There is no good reason why it should not be carried out with general satisfaction to the people and beneficial results to the country ? Public Improvements, New York. The exact spot to be selected for the purpose in these vast stretches of virgin forest is not yet determined, but the nation could hardly go wrong in any part of the territory. Parks and Cemetery, Chicago, 111.: It wonld scarcely be possible to select a section of the country more desirable for a national park than that which the Appalachian National Park Association is agitating to secure. New York Lumber Trade Journal: The Journal is heartily in favor of such a park and hopes that Congress will give it' favorable attention. 25

While the booklet is titled “fourth edition,” the first three editions have a different title and content. The first, second, and third editions are titled, “Reasons in Favor of the Establishment of a National Park in the Mountains of Western North Carolina.”
