30 year safety certificates awarded by Division manager Paul Ellis of Sylva's Mead Corporation

Paul Ellis is seen in this photograph awarding safety certificates to Joe Dietz, Hedle Ashe, Fred Barnes, Zeb Parris, Ralph England, Roy Buchanan, Lonnie Ammons, Harley Stewman, Ham Ashe, R. U. Sutton, George Womack, and Zollie Fincannon. Along with the three men not present, Roscoe Poteet, Glen Goldman, and Crawford Smith, these men represent a total of 30 years without a lost-time accident. This photograph is part of a collection of photographs that were created for the Sylvan, a monthly 1950's publication of Sylva's Mead Corporation. Mead, which opened in 1928, expanded in 1955 and closed in 1974 due to environmental concerns, produced paper for cardboard boxes. Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company, a recycle-based operation, opened in 1995 in the same location.
